StrictlyVanilla Rules

Please read these rules carefully before playing. Staff may warn, kick, or ban players depending on the severity of a violation.

Important: These rules are intended to keep the server fair, family-friendly, and enjoyable for everyone. If something is clearly exploitative, harmful, or disruptive, staff may act even if it is not spelled out word-for-word below.

Respect

  1. Do not argue or get involved in heated public debates about server rules, player reports or bans, or server environment matters.
  2. Do not discriminate against, insult, or offend another player.
  3. Server-related issues such as rules, reports, bans, or environment concerns belong on the forum.
  4. Do not continuously accuse another player of breaking rules in public chat, whether the accusation is true or not.
  5. Do not ask staff for items, teleports, operator, creative, fly, or anything unattainable by ordinary players.
  6. Claiming to represent a community, company, or website in order to obtain special treatment or assets is bannable.
  7. Comply with reasonable staff directions intended to maintain an orderly server environment.
Violations in this section may result in a warning, kick, or ban depending on severity.

Chat Etiquette

  1. Public chat must be in English, aside from the occasional foreign word or abbreviation.
  2. Do not curse in public chat or attempt to disguise curse words through symbols, missing letters, added letters, reverse spelling, phonetic tricks, or similar workarounds.
  3. Usernames and skins must not contain inappropriate words, themes, or attire.
  4. Do not continuously rage in public chat.
  5. Do not bring up sexual matters, politics, hate speech, religion, or other non-kid-friendly topics that can provoke heated debates.
  6. Do not spam public chat, including:
  • Multiple lines in full capitals
  • Full lines of the same letter, number, or symbol
  • Repeated statements or questions
  1. Major spam of more than four lines may lead to a permanent ban.
  2. Do not spam private chat to annoy others.
  3. Do not advertise another server in public chat.
  4. Do not discuss banned players, hacked clients, exploits, Bukkit servers, or substantial material related to servers other than StrictlyVanilla.
Violations in this section may result in a warning, kick, or ban depending on severity.

Individual Clients and Players

  1. Do not hack the server. This includes flying, super-jumping, alternate clients that provide unfair gameplay advantages, or any method not normally allowed by the server.
  2. Do not exploit Minecraft bugs or glitches for unfair advantage, including bedrock breaking, duplication, x-raying, ender pearl portal glitching, or similar behavior.
  3. Staff may ban players reasonably believed to be using x-ray modifications or packs.
  4. Do not threaten to extort, crash, or otherwise harm the server.
  5. Do not use automation through hacked clients or external scripting while playing.
  6. Holding down a key with an object, such as roof running, is allowed.
  7. If automation is suspected, staff may kick you to communicate. Failure to respond after repeated attempts may lead to a ban.
  8. Any exploitation, glitching, hacking, or scripting, including bypassing spawn or world border limitations, is not tolerated.
  9. Play fairly. If something gives an unfair advantage over rule-abiding players, do not use it even if it is not listed explicitly.
Threatening the server or using major exploits/hacks may result in an immediate permanent ban.
The intention behind the action matters more than technical wording. If you are unsure, ask on the forum first.

Allowed Modded Clients by Server

Only the following client-side modifications and visual tools are allowed. Anything else is considered illegal unless staff approve it.

  • OptiFine / MCPatcher
  • Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders for Minecraft (requires Forge)
  • Forge
  • Advanced HUD
  • Batty’s Coordinates Plus!
  • Shulker Box Viewer
  • Most texture pack add-ons that improve visuals or scenery

If you are unsure whether a mod is allowed, ask first. StrictlyVanilla expects players to play vanilla whenever possible.

Staff Guidelines

  1. Staff must follow all player rules in addition to the rules below.
  2. Staff matters belong in staff-only forum sections, the staff Discord channel, or private messages.
  3. Public arguments between staff members are unprofessional and can result in demotion.
  4. Staff powers must never be used for personal gain or vendettas.
  5. Moderators are expected to obey player rules even more strictly than regular players.
  6. Staff must not act rudely or offensively in public.
  7. If you cannot solve an issue, ask another moderator or administrator for help.
  8. Failure to behave professionally may result in demotion.

Warning Team — Gold Name

Warns players about rule breaches in chat or the world and can kick players when needed.

Moderators — Purple Name

Enforce rules, review logs, ban players, and only a limited number may spectate.

Administrators — Red Name

Operate the server, may teleport when needed, may use creative only for spawn work or flight, and may promote players with owner approval.

If you believe a player or staff member broke rules, screenshot everything and report it on the forums in a civil manner.
Bans for flying, hacking, glitching, advertising, or related serious offenses will not be lifted.

Game Play

StrictlyVanilla does not run plugins or mods to reduce lag, so players are expected to build in a server-friendly way.

  • Entity limit is 300 per loaded area. Reduce entities if you exceed that in any section of your base.
  • Max Entity Cramming is set to 100.
  • Overworld gold farms and Nether portal gold farms are banned. Gold farms must be in the Nether.
  • Combine chicken and egg farms where possible.
  • Keep cow and sheep farms at reasonable sizes and give animals space when not using semi-automatic designs.
  • Farms that keep entities constantly flapping or bouncing in water are not server-friendly.
  • Pulsing redstone clocks cause lag. Use alternatives that activate only when needed.
  • Hoppers create lag. Prefer designs that reduce constant item searching, such as droppers above hoppers or water/ice item transport.
  • Short-timer hopper clocks driving many pistons can still cause lag.
  • BUD switches are encouraged where they reduce unnecessary constant activity.
